August 26, 2025 Helldivers 2 will be available on Xbox Series X and S. According to IGN, Sony who usually makes games for PlayStation is bringing Helldivers 2 to their competitor Xbox. The game has sold over 15 million copies and was released on PS5 and PC in 2024. Now Xbox players can join the fight for Super Earth too.
You become a Helldiver and fight robots called Automatons and alien bugs called Terminids in the third-person co-op shooter Helldivers 2 on Xbox. It’s made by Arrowhead Game Studios and has a humorous vibe like Starship Troopers. With 4 friends you do tasks like detonate a nuclear bomb or destroy bug eggs. The game is fun because of its humor and crazy missions. This game will have all the updates on Xbox.
Helldivers 2 will have crossplay on Xbox so you can play with users on Xbox, PS5 and PC. The game is $39.99 and the Super Citizen Edition which includes unique armor sets like TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand and a Premium Warbond Token is $59.99. You can pre-order 3 extra armor sets. But if there’s no cross-progression the progress on PC or PS5 won’t be carried over to Xbox.

It’s a big surprise that Sony’s Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox. Most of the time Sony’s games are only on PS5 and PC. MLB The Show was an exception because of MLB. But Sony is releasing Helldivers 2 on Xbox on their own. On Xbox Wire game director Mikael Eriksson said Xbox players have been asking for it for a while. With this move Sony is showing their new approach to attract a bigger audience of gamers.
In the game you have a feature called Stratagems where you can request turrets or 500 KG bombs from Orbit. You choose a Booster and 4 Stratagems which benefits the whole team. On Xbox Helldivers 2 will have 14 Warbonds each with new weapons, armor and gestures. But since friendly fire is always present be careful not to shoot your friends! What makes the game fun is the excitement and activity.
Helldivers 2 will release on Xbox One at the same time as Microsoft’s Gears of War: Reloaded on PS5. This means Microsoft and Sony are porting games to each other’s platforms. Sony just released LEGO Horizon Adventures on Nintendo Switch. Helldivers 2 on Xbox will add more to the game’s community since it will have crossplay and more players can play together.
