The upcoming film The Fantastic Four: First Steps, set to release in July 2025, has Marvel fans excited with a new trailer showing the size of Galactus, the massive villain played by Ralph Ineson. In a clip from Cinemablend, the Fantastic-Car is seen flying over the city while Galactus towers over New York’s skyscrapers, everyone is stunned.

Galactus is not your average bad guy. He’s an intergalactic being who eats planets to live. He’s so big in the comics he can tower over entire worlds. In this clip we only see his head and body towering over New York City’s buildings. This gives you an idea of his power. Galactus is a “cosmic vampire who devours planets and is 14 billion years old” says director Matt Shakman.

The Fantastic Four team in The Fantastic Four: First Steps includes Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). They’re up against Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer and Galactus. The trailer shows the story takes place in the 1960s and has a retro-futuristic look.

The short clip shows Reed Richards using his stretching ability to stab Galactus’s hand with some kind of weapon, but Galactus’s finger is way bigger than Reed. You can see the size of Galactus in this scene; even a hero with superpowers like Mister Fantastic looks tiny compared to this villain.

In this film Galactus is not the same as the giant cloud in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). That version wasn’t well received by audiences because it was too impersonal. Marvel this time designed Galactus to look like he does in the comics. The real suit was worn by Ralph Ineson on set, not just CGI.

To enhance the image Matt Shakman shot the movie with an IMAX camera. He also used miniature sets in some scenes like when Galactus walks through New York. This made it look more real and terrifying. To help the design team Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, used snippets from Fortnite Battle Royale to make Galactus look big.

Galactus is perfect for Ralph Ineson, the bass-voiced actor from Nosferatu. Galactus isn’t a villain to him, he’s a creature acting on instinct. He’ll bring depth and terror to the role. He looks like a god of the universe in the scene where he walks through the city.

In the comics, Silver Surfer is Galactus’ herald and he’s in the trailer too. She warns the Fantastic Four of the impending doom. The new Silver Surfer is Julia Garner’s Shalla-Bal. We don’t get to see her face in the trailer but fans are curious to know what role she’ll play in the story.

The movie was shot in England and Spain from July to November 2024. It’s using a mix of CGI and real world effects to give an old school sci-fi feel. The movie is different from other Marvel movies because of the retro-futuristic New York City.

Galactus’ size in the trailer has fans hyped. When he steps on a city it’s almost too much. Rumor has it he might eat the planet of the Fantastic Four and they’ll have to move to a different universe in the MCU. That adds to the tension.

The supporting cast makes the movie even more interesting with Natasha Lyonne, John Malkovich and Paul Walter Hauser. With the talented cast and director Shakman who’s a comedy expert, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is going to be a hit.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes out July 25, 2025. Fans are more excited than ever to see Galactus vs the Fantastic Four in theaters. Galactus is going to be a great villain because he’s so big.
